What is Ayurvedic Poultice Massage?
Ayurvedic Poultice Massage is a deep heat medicinal muscle therapy that uses Poultices (or Potlis) that contains a selection of Ayurvedic herbs, both, fresh and dried. The herbs are wrapped in a muslin cloth and heated. The poultice is dipped in warm medicated oil for wet massages and for dry massages, the poultice is heated against sand or some herbal powder. The steaming process softens the compress and the aroma intensifies as the essential oils in the contents are released. The massage is focused on specific pressure points that help rejuvenating, relaxing and nourishing the affected areas of the body.
Why should you get it?
Ayurvedic Poultice Massage is a simple heat therapy. Like any other heat treatment, it is detoxifying and induces sweat that helps eliminate toxins. The poultice will relieve aches and tensions in the muscle as well as stretch the connective tissues in the body. The heat of the poultice (or potlis) opens the pores and alleviating pain, stiff, sore or pulled muscles and ligaments. The hot compresses are ideal for relieving chronic back aches, arthritis, even skin conditions, migraines and chronic stress or anxiety. The herbs used in the poultice possess medicinal properties that are anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent and antioxidant.
What to expect?
The therapist then takes the hot compress and presses it gently on various parts of the body. Movements contrast between a gentle touch, press and lift to vigorous pounding. The heat is absorbed in to your body along with the herbs to relieve pains and aches, improves blood circulation, increase lymphatic drainage, detoxify & condition the skin. Ayurvedic Poultice Massage has a relaxing and invigorating effect on your body and mind, soothing sore and overworked muscles while giving your body’s energy reserves a huge boost.
