Should you get a massage when you have a migraine

It is generally not recommended to get a massage when you are experiencing a migraine headache, as massage therapy can sometimes trigger or worsen migraine symptoms.

During a migraine attack, the body may be more sensitive to touch and pressure, and a massage therapist may accidentally trigger a pain response by applying too much pressure or stimulating certain trigger points.

If you are experiencing a migraine headache, it is usually best to rest in a dark, quiet room and avoid stimulation until your symptoms have subsided. However, if you find that massage therapy has been helpful in managing your migraine symptoms in the past, it may be worth discussing with a licensed massage therapist whether or not it is safe for you to receive a massage during a migraine attack.
