Misuiyile’s Journey To Becoming A Duty Manager At The Tattva Wellness Spa

Every day, Tattva Wellness impacts people’s lives and gives us a fresh sense of accomplishment and happiness, motivating us to go forward and confront our challenges head-on without hesitation. One of these employees is the focus of our “People of Tattva” series: Misuiyile, the duty manager at Tattva Wellness Spa.  We’re interacting with Misuiyile in this session who began her career as a healer and steadily rose through the ranks thanks to her skills, hard work, and calming demeanor.

Q.1. Misuiyile, you have been working in the wellness industry for almost 5 years now, what inspired you to pursue a career in the wellness industry?

Misuiyile: “In one way or another, the wellness sector has always been all around me. I worked as a gym trainer for approximately a year before learning about Tattva’s wellness and beauty training program in Guwahati from a friend. I became interested in it after hearing about it  and attended the session where I picked up several new skills and methods like different types of massage therapies and facial techniques. I discovered that I genuinely appreciate the art of treating others when I used these skills at Tattva Wellness Spa. The wellness sector has made me feel proud and happy, allowing me to assist our guests’ recovery and alleviate their discomfort, thus motivating me to continue forward with more determination and focus.”

Q.2. What strategies have you implemented to boost sales and sustain growth?

Misuiyile: “I’ve discovered from interacting with guests that the first impression matters the most. I greet and assist our guests as soon as they arrive at the hotel, making them feel at home and welcome. As a result, we appear more friendly, and eventually, they ask about the services and if they can try them. The atmosphere and setting we provide at our spa are the second factor that encourages our guests to indulge. They are intrigued by our SOP sets, subtle scents, and tranquil atmosphere, which encourages them to try the services.”

Q.3. Client feedback is crucial at Tattva Wellness. How do you and your team incorporate feedback to improve service quality?

Misuiyile: “Each guest is unique every day; some are talkative, some are humorous, and some are quiet. How you interact with them varies depending on the person. I always have a briefing session with my team before the day begins, where we talk about the SOPs and procedures. We healers must act as a team and attend to all of our guests’ demands to give them a memorable visit. Thus, we strive to strengthen our team’s bond and mutual understanding to care for our guests and make them feel more at ease and welcomed.”

Q.4. Having worked across different locations, how have you adapted and refined your strategies for execution?

Misuiyile: “It was among the most difficult things I had to deal with. When we relocate, it’s not just the place that’s unfamiliar to us; it’s also the people, the activities, the setting, everything. It takes time to adjust to a new working environment. When I first arrived in Goa, I watched the locals and the spa center’s operations. Within two months, we were able to assemble a strong team and proceed only after careful communication and understanding. Later, when I moved to Lonavla, I had the opportunity to learn from my superiors because their methods were so different from those in other areas. This allowed me to develop and gain a fresh perspective on the industry.”

Q.5. What key lessons from your seniors would you like to pass on to your team?

Misuiyile: “Over time, I’ve come to realize that experience is a great teacher. I would constantly advise my subordinates and fellow healers to pay attention to guidance or criticism from our supervisors. We are all healers working as a team and can only advance if we cooperate. The second thing I learned—and will never forget—is not to run from problems because there is always something good in the end. Since our hard effort always pays off, we as individuals must be stronger and not give up or leave when things get difficult. For my growth and development, my seniors always inspired me to seek a solution, and I would do the same for my subordinates.”

Q.6. Tattva Wellness emphasizes service beyond duty. Can you share an instance where you went the extra mile for a guest?

Misuiyile: “Looking back, I can think of a few visitor interactions that have influenced me as a person and a healer, but right now, two stand out above the others. I recall that a group of five or six girls arrived at our spa near closing time after a long day of back-to-back reservations when I was still a supervisor. Since our healers were exhausted from a long day and everyone’s schedules were filled, we initially declined them. As a result, there was some dispute between the girls, and one of them became quite hostile. They later came up to us once more and, in a composed manner, informed us that they truly needed a session, even if it was only for thirty minutes. I kept my composure and talked with my team during this whole discussion. Following that, we all massaged them for thirty minutes. Following the session, they all approached us to express their gratitude and to tell me that they learned from me today to make decisions with composure and not lose their temper easily. That line has motivated me to remain kind and composed for the rest of my life, even under trying circumstances.

Another event involving one of our regulars is one that I will never forget. They were an elderly couple who came once a month for massages. We grew close to the couple over time, and they shared with us how the woman had breast cancer and how they were going through a difficult time. They then stopped visiting for a long time, and six months later, I finally saw them again. Due to the chemotherapy, the woman had gone bald, and the husband appeared to be in great weakness. The woman did, however, tell me that the therapy session with us was her comfort zone and that she was afraid to go anywhere else like this. She said she wanted to see me since she felt completely at home and safe with me. On that day and in that moment, I felt warm and grateful for the work I do and the lives I can change.”

With her candor and abilities, Misuiyile has advanced significantly over the past five years. She has developed into a competent healer as well as a pillar of support for her team and guests. She genuinely inspires and exemplifies the core values of Tattva Wellness Spa, which include providing a secure environment for our guests. Her story taught us the value of showing kindness to those around us and the profound impact that composure and empathy can have on their life.
