In this edition we are in conversation with Sukhveer whose journey began with us as a healer, and through his relentless determination and hard work, he has risen to new heights in the wellness industry.
Q.1. What inspired you to start your journey in wellness, and how has Tattva shaped your growth?
Sukhveer Singh: “I started my career by working in a hospital in Ayurveda, but after some time, I decided to switch paths and took up a role as a fitness trainer. A few years later, I got an opportunity to work at a family spa, which marked my entry into the wellness industry. Post-COVID, I was fortunate to receive an offer from Tattva Wellness, and I initially joined as a healer. Within a short span, I was promoted to Supervisor, a role that truly deepened my passion for my work. I found immense satisfaction in contributing to people’s well-being and making a difference. Today, it’s been four wonderful years with Tattva, and my journey here continues to grow”
Q.2. As a Centre Manager, what does your typical day at Tattva Wellness Spa look like?
Sukhveer Singh: “As a Central Manager, I oversee all aspects of operations to ensure everything is running smoothly and aligned with our goals. My responsibilities include reviewing budgets, tracking daily targets, and setting clear objectives for the day to contribute towards achieving our monthly targets. While we are provided with monthly goals, I believe in breaking them into daily milestones to stay on track and maintain focus. Additionally, I ensure that any new initiatives or launches introduced by the company are effectively communicated to our frontline team members, including our healers and supervisor. I also ensure seamless day-to-day operations and foster alignment across the team.”
Q.3. Can you share specific strategies or actions you implemented to enhance guest experiences at Tattva so far?
Sukhveer Singh: “Every guest interaction is new to us. Daily, we strive to implement new ideas to enhance our services. I firmly believe in trusting the process and ensuring that the strategies conveyed by our seniors and the company’s SOPs are implemented effectively to provide the best possible experience for our guests.
One memorable interaction was with a couple who had booked a spa session to celebrate their wedding anniversary, although we weren’t initially aware of this. Once I got to know about this, I coordinated with the hotel staff and housekeeping team to arrange flowers, room decorations, and a complimentary cake for them. When the couple arrived, they were completely surprised and deeply touched by the gesture. Their heartfelt gratitude made the effort truly rewarding. To top it off, they were travelling with a family group, and after their experience, they booked a spa for their entire family as well. Moments like these remind me of the joy my work can bring to others.
Q.4. How do you handle challenging situations or guest complaints while maintaining Tattva’s high standards?
Sukhveer Singh: “Coming from an Ayurvedic background, I strongly believe that prevention is better than cure. I ensure my team is well-trained and follows the SOPs to handle situations effectively. However, guest complaints do arise but we are always prepared to address negative feedback because it provides valuable opportunities for improvement. When a guest approaches with a complaint, I make sure to listen to them calmly and attentively. I then invite them to revisit our spa, assuring them that the issues they experienced will not happen again. This approach not only helps resolve concerns but also rebuilds trust with our guests.”
Q.5. You significantly boosted monthly sales at your unit. Can you highlight the specific initiatives or approaches that contributed to this achievement?
Sukhveer Singh: “I always strive to give my best, and it’s not just about me but also about empowering my support staff. I focus on training my team thoroughly, ensuring they are equipped with everything to handle situations independently, even if I’m not there. Working collaboratively as a team has been key to making operations smoother and more efficient, ultimately contributing to sales growth. Additionally, I prioritize personal interaction with our guests. I’m a person always on the floor, meeting and greeting guests, and I believe this approach helps build relationships beyond just selling spa services. By gathering local knowledge and sharing my own experiences with guests, I foster a sense of connection, which enhances their overall experience and encourages repeat visits. These initiatives, along with maintaining a strong team dynamic, played a significant role in boosting our monthly sales.”
Q.6. How do you balance immediate challenges with long-term excellence at challenging locations like Pahalgam, and Srinagar?
Sukhveer Singh: “I thrive on challenges, and I’ve always felt that no challenge is too big. Having worked across various locations in India, I embrace challenges as they push me beyond my comfort zone and help me grow. When Tattva asked me to relocate to Pahalgam or Srinagar, I volunteered without hesitation. It was also a time when I had just gotten married and was relocating, and it became about synchronizing my personal and professional life. Working with Tattva has provided me with everything I need, and I ensure that I contribute to the company’s excellence, even in challenging locations.”
